The Bad Day, Gone Good.....

Normally you would hear about a good day gone bad, but Wednesday was not the day I thought it would be.

It all started when I had to finish my type project Tuesday night. I was prepared for staying up late (I got to bed around 4) and I was ready to face the early morning (around 7) so that way I could buy the mat board and print out my assignment. In the end I was pretty proud of my work and looked forward to seeing it printed...

On Tuesday morning, my alarm had gone off on time but it took me till 8:20 to wake up. This was a problem because I wanted to be out of the room and at the store for 8, but what was I going to do? I quickly got dressed and successfully walked to the store and bought my mat board. With 10 minutes to spare I was in the media lab ready to print....but who would expect, on this day the media lab would not be doing any color prints. What was I going to do? I had no idea, but class was about to start so I decided to ask the teacher if she would let me go to Campus Design and make my print.

As I walked into the classroom to make my request, it was immediately declined. She claimed that all assignments were due at the beginning of class and she would only accept what I had with me....uncut mat board?....I freaked out and didn't know what to do. So I did the first thing I could think of after about 30 seconds of spazzing and gathering my thoughts at my seat.

I told my professor that I would like to go to Campus Design and just print my assignment just for the critique. I explained that I stayed up all night and if it wasn't at least looked at I was not going to be happy! She gave in and I walked my way to the Campus Center crying and trying to think of how I was going to handle this situation. In the middle I called Sam...I had to talk to someone.....

Long story short, I printed up all my things and had a decent crit. My professor seemed surprised that when I came back I had all my projects ready and completed. I put them up on the wall and continued with my class work. The only other awkward thing was that my cell phone rang during class and she answered it....the best part, Abigail (my 2 year old niece) was the one who called me. Which explained the confused look on my teacher's face.

At the end of class I went up to the teacher and asked what I could do about the project. She said that it was clear that I have had a bad day, and not only let me hand it in, but also let me mat it before I brought it to her office...

This made my day go from horrible to extremely well. I expect everything else to go wrong, but was very persistent in making it work out ok. I am very grateful that my teacher had put pity on me and also that I was raised never to back down. If I were to just take that grade, I would have a zero in the second project of this class, as well as a bad toung lashing from my parents.

All in all, things are good again...

Running

So tomorrow is the day where I finally forfil my wish of running. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to go with Joe and we are going to either do Ring Rd or the Gym. I have not decided what I want to do yet but I feel like I am going to do this Couch-to-5k guide. I know it isn't a method that has been used by anyone I know but I hear it is a great system for training....I will see tomorrow...

*Focus*

My good mood is still holding quite strong considering how it came on. Though I am still very concerned because of the poor choices I have made in this past week. I have skipped my Graphic Design class and my Digital Media class because I have not had the work that is due done. I have also missed a bunch of stuff and have been a bit lazy.

My goal, get back on track. I am going to start up the FlyLady stuff for teens and work my way into getting back into a responsible life. I need to find a balance between social and school....as I had mentioned before. I also need to watch what I am eating because I feel as though I am not eating right at Res...or as right as I could. I need to find the Kat that is good at life....a Kat that is slowly but surly motivating herself to the surface.

On brighter news, even though I have killed my nightly workouts. I have been pushing myself to take the stairs, even when I really don't want to. Now I only take the elevator a couple times during the day avoiding it when I remember. Also, I am going to be going to the gym with Sam tomorrow morning and will hopefully be adventurous enough to try a shot at running. Though, I do not think I am going to be staying there for an hour like Sam expects. I don;t wnat to overwork myself before I start.

I really want to do this whole weight loss thing. Joe has said to me many times that he likes me just the way I am, but I still feel like I can be better. I don't want to be washboard thin...personally I think girls look better with a little bit of weight on them. However, I would like to be down to a minimum of flab. Maybe a small amount of muscle poking through. We will see these decicions, as I have also stated before, when I hit my goal of 145.

So 45 pounds from now I will make another decision. I am very content at how the weight has lost, even though it is moving slowly, but what excites me the most is the loss of fat around different areas of my body....I just need to continue this........

MOST IMPORTANTLY: work on school, turn myself into the student I use to be...

Potential

On Valentines day I had gotten many flowers. Some, as you know were from my boyfriend, but I also received two [red] carnations from TGI Fridays and the Campus Christian Fellowship. The flowers I got were of course beautiful, but a particular incident was brought back to the surface today. When receiving the carnation from the Christian Fellowship they were lined up on the RA desk from when we entered the building. I did not want to take one at first because I had already had one in my hands but my RA, Ashley, insisted that we take one.

Examining the layout in front of me I saw many full bloom flowers that were nice, some that had small flaws and other such things. Finally, I chose a small flower that was only partially bloomed. It was little and wasn't much to look at yet, but for some reason I was drawn to what it would be. After the RAs looked at my choice they comented on how I should pick a new flower that looked better.

For some reason I decided to tell them my reason. Talking of how the flower just needs a day and is a late bloomer. They seemed reluctant and I used the example of the ugly duckling and how this flower would be my swan. Still they did not believe me, but Joe was there and also backed my plan. I told Ashley that I would show her the flower in a couple days, and I am still debating on doing that.

Today my other flowers look as if they are about to die, but the carnation that I had picked is literally perfect. It is round and full of demention. With the exception of the bend I accidently put in the stem on saturday it is gorgous. I pointed it out to Joe today and he agreed; I found myself very pleased with this.

Then I thought about it. Do I really see things that differently than others. When I look at someone I do not see what they did, but what they can do. I believe we are capable of everything we put our minds to and when determined nothing can get in my way. This flower was about to be rejected but I took it because I saw what it would become. I want to look on the brighter side of life and I think this is a good example....

Good Mood

For the past few days I have been back to normal and in a good mood. Today, I am back to normal and in a really good mood! I am not even positive on what it is but I feel like life is good and possible again. Sure, the last two weeks sucked both academically and health[ily?], but I can turn it around and have only a small scratch on my schedule.

Thinking back, I wonder if this idea had spread into my subconscious after hearing a friend's brother state that it was too late to fix his grades...I was thinking about how it is never really too late and now I am thinking the same way for my self. I will do better, because I must do better.

In other news, I am really excited to state I have had my first Valentines Day! I had spent the day before scraping the last of my birthday money together and going out with Sam to get baking supplies as I made a giant brownie for Joe (and Sam for Craig). I put it in my fridge and awaited Valintines Day, which I had expected to go by like any other day. I woke up around 10 which is normal for the weekends, and took a shower and dressed. Joe wasn't in his room so I just started to do my hair and make up and ended up looking very nice for the day.

When I finally did see Joe again he came to my door with daffodils (my favorite flower!) and chocolates! I was really excited and it was very unexpected. We ended up going to Res for lunch and then started making plans for dinner. It turned out Jess and Tom were running on the same plans so instead of walking to our new dinner plans we got a ride and doubled with them. The boys took us to Fridays and then to see the movie Coraline. It was really good and even though I thought I would loath going out, I loved it. It was such a nice Valentines day!

The next day my mom came and I got the dress for the photoshoot that is coming up. Sam, Craig, Joe and I are going to be doing some couples pictures when it is warmer and they are going to be hot...also I finally did my cousin's portrait.

Long story short...:D

Focus or Screwed

So the past week involved a really bad case of the flu that Health Services had deemed hospital worthy. I did not end up at the hospital, but I have missed the last week of classes, screwing up my "school mode" even further than it already has been. I have been having a EXTREMELY hard time focusing which is extra hard when I am getting to my work. I am afraid that I am starting off this semester on a very bad foot. I have been late to classes, my work is poor, well fair, and I really am struggling to catch up the week I just lost. My distraction ability is at its height and I must force myself out of this funk. I am even struggling in drawing!!!

Right now I am down to two more classes of catch up. Graphic Design I have a huge color thing that I still need to (basically) start, it is due Thursday and I am so screwed if I don't work my butt off tomorrow. I am also screwed tomorrow if I cannot find a way to print the things for my Typography class.....I don't even want to think about the essays due at the end of the week....I know I can get back though, I have to.

With this semester I know I will have trouble if I live with Samantha during next school year. I have lost my ability to balance school and social, and by then I am not sure I will be over this. Even if I go cold turkey I could end up falling by her influence. I need to also decide if I want to live with Joe; in theory it will be exactly like now, but...The thought of it concerns me. At this point I just hope I am an RA and wont have to worry about it. If I am an RA in the apartments I will see if my original housing plans will work....or have random roommates.

Also there are a lot of really big things going on in the lives around me. They are not my business to blog, so I will not. I will speak only of my own things, such as Joe, Sam, Craig and I will possibly have a photo session to do later on. I am having my old homecoming dress (senior year) sent up this weekend and then we will do it whenever. This will be a cool photo shoot and I am looking forward to it. We may or may not have another couple in the mix...

That is all my concerns for now. I have a ton on my mind and still have a lot to do. Hopefully this storm will be over by the end of this week and we can all get back to normal. I still have so much to do, to the point of remembering something new everytime I think about it........stress...

Back to the Schedule

I have so much work to do still and it is only the second week of school. In theory all of this I should have done the night it was given, but I am still trying to adjust to this schedule of work and a social life. It is still hard to believe how much time has past lately.

I am not concerned over this semester, but the classes still worry me slightly. So far, Graphic Design has turned into a color theory class and Typography has a bunch of sucky work. I need to definably find my digital camera for my classes but it is still missing. Now all I am doing is hoping that it will eventually show up. Until then I am stuck finding someone who I can borrow from.

It isn't that life is stressful right now, I actually have it a lot easier than most of my peers. The issue is that I have gone from doing nothing to being incredibly busy. I need to pay more attention to some of my friends that I feel like I have been neglecting while still keeping a balance with classes. The really good news is, I don't seem to be struggling with Art History anymore.
